SPRING IS IN THE AIR AT CARLOS’ RESTAURANT

Rated number-one for Chicago-area restaurants by Zagat with a nearly perfect “Food” score of 29 out of 30, Carlos’ in Highland Park, IL, is ready for spring, anew with many memorable culinary evenings sure to please any palate. Considered one of the oldest and best fine-dining options in the Chicago area, Carlos’ has much to offer both regulars and first-timers. Passover at Carlos’—Sunday, April 20
Carlos’ will feature a seven course special Passover menu; priced at $90 per person or $130 with kosher wine pairings (plus beverages, tax, and gratuity).

 
Wine Dinner—Thursday, May 8
Winemaker’s Dinner with Rollin Soles from Argyle and Roco Wineries, hosted by International House of Wine and Cheese and Carlos’ Restaurant. A five course gourmet dinner paired with Argyle and Roco Wines. The wine dinner is $107.95 all inclusive. For reservations or more information, please call 815-678-2500 or 847-432-0770.
 

Mother’s Day at Carlos’—Sunday, May 11
Carlos’ will be open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Special degustation menu prepared. Pricing for lunch is $45.00 per person and dinner is $100 per person (plus beverages, tax, and gratuity)..

 
Carlos’ Wine Flights Special Selection
Carlos’ will feature wine flights during the month of April, including combination of French Whites, California Whites, California Reds, Champagne and Sparkling Wines, and Around the World wines. Each flight offers three glasses with two oz. pours of wine.
 
Wine Enthusiast and The Field Museum

Special “Wines of Carlos” night
During the month of April, surprise wines will be chosen from Carlos’ cellar to match a special six-course Degustation menu (no choices). Cost is $120 per person or $75 more for extra special wine selections.
 
The Freehling Room at Ravinia Park
Come check out Carlos’ Restaurant (The Freehling Room) at Ravinia Park. Enjoy fine food and wine before a concert under the stars. Open every night there is a concert at the park. Currently a Ravinia Donors Restaurant. Call Ravinia Park (847)-266-5000 for information regarding becoming a Donor, and other perks it includes.
 
Monday Night “No Corkage Fee” at Carlos’
Come to Carlos’ every Monday night with your best bottle(s) of wine from your cellar and pay no corkage fee, while enjoying Carlos’ a la carte menu, or special eight-course degustation menu ($100 or $155 if paired with Carlos’ wines, plus tax, gratuity, and beverages).
 
Dinner Film Club—June 13, History of Cinema Night; June 20, Classic Comedy Night
Join husband and wife team Carlos and Debbie Nieto every second and third Friday of the month for an intimate evening of delicious French fare and great cinema at Carlos’. They’ll feature some of the greatest classic films as guests dine on the finest Contemporary French cuisine. The Dinner Film Club offers a set menu with choices, and of course, freshly-made-hot-buttered popcorn! Cost is $60 plus beverages, tax, and gratuity. NEW Outdoor Dining at Carlos’
: Starting May 2008 (weather permitting), Carlos’ will begin serving under the stars on a new intimate outdoor dining patio. The special menu features hot and cold appetizers, fresh salads, pates and foie gras, artisanal cheeses, decadent desserts and pastries, and more. Same hours of operation, but weather permitting. Heat lamps for chilly nights. Seating is limited.
 
Post Theater Dessert Special
Carlos’ is the perfect dining destination after the movies, and is offering their homemade Chocolate Symphony of 5 little desserts for $13.50, plus tax and gratuity. Pair it with their freshly brewed Illy coffee and espresso drinks, or an elegant nightcap.
 
New “Little Gourmet” Menu
Carlos’ offers a menu tailored to the younger fine dining clientele. From little Kobe beef sliders to small bites of simply prepared contemporary French fare, Carlos’ wants to invite in the newest generation of curious gourmands with their families. Appropriate dress required, blazer jacket for young gentlemen.
 
Hot and Cold Foie Gras
With the Foie Gras Ban still in effect in Chicago, come to the north suburb of Highland Park where Carlos’ offers this highly coveted yet controversial gourmet delicacy in the finest preparation of both hot/seared (on top of the glass dome) and cold/terrine (under a glass dome). It is a magnificent appetizer that is worth the drive.
 
Cook at the Ranch with Carlos and Debbie
For a very special evening, Carlos and Debbie Nieto invite you into their Antioch home (half hour drive north of Carlos’ Restaurant) for a private party experience extraordinaire. Limited to six people, spend an evening with the Carlos’ owners for a hands-on cooking class in the Nieto’s gourmet kitchen, preparing a three-course meal paired with great wines and cocktails. The Carlos’ waitstaff will ensure you get lots of personal attention and receive “the royal treatment”- and you don’t even have to do the dishes! Cost is $250 per person (all inclusive) and reservations are required. Available on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights.
